When To Visit
March through November: Open weekends in March for all visitors; weekdays by appointment for groups; collecting available, weather permitting.
Open Daily April through November Monday through Friday 10am to 4pm. Saturdays 10am to 5pm and Sundays 11am to 5pm.
Guided tours are offered hourly, upon availability. Visitors are able to view exhibits without a tour guide. Some restrictions may apply if group tours are in progress. Collecting available daily. Dump closes 30 minutes prior to museum.
Admission
Museum Exhibits: Adults $7.00; Children(3-12) $4.00; Senior Citizen $5.00.
Rock Collecting: Adults $7.00; Children(3-12)** $4.00; Senior Citizen $5.00. Poundage fee: $1.50 per pound.
All persons going into dump area must pay admission.
**In the event a school selects Rock Collecting only, up to two pounds of collected rocks will be included per paid admission.
Combination Museum Exhibits and Rock Collecting: Adult $12.00; Children(3-12) $7.00; Senior Citizen $8.00. Includes collecting bag and 2 pounds per paid admission. Additional poundage fee: $1.50.
Group Rates - Guided Tour and Rock Collecting:
Reservations are required and may be made up to a year in advance.
Children $6.00, Adults $10.00, Senior Citizen $6.00. Each group admission includes one museum supplied collecting bag filled with your collected specimens from the mineral dump. Additional specimens are charged at $1.50 per pound.
The following qualifies for Group Rates: Schools and Camps - no minimum. Scouts, Home Schools, and birthday parties - 10 or more. All prices are subject to change without notice. These rates do not apply to special events or digs. While here visit our Gift Shop. Local and world-wide minerals are available for sale. UV lights, jewelry, rock ID kits, books on minerals and fossils, teaching aids, refreshments and hospitality are also available. Great place to shop for unique birthday and Christmas gifts! The Museum hosts children's parties, camps and scout group activities and merit badge programs. We also have an Annual Science Award Competition where local student award recipients receive scholarships. Science Award Ceremony is held in conjunction with the museum's annual "Miners and Volunteer Appreciation Day" held the first Sunday in May. Most areas of the museum are handicap accessible including upper mineral collecting areas. |
